by JH inwhen you were a jw, how did you imagine armageddon would be like?
did you imagine it would be short, long?
i remember some saying that they would live in beautiful houses that god spared, just for them.

Apparently I am in need of medication. My therapist doesn't think I am handling my break up very well. All my friends think I am crazy. I just went to the doctor yesterday and he thinks I should take something so I won't be so stressed. I hate taking medicine. I figure a bottle of Merlot will work just as well. Actually, I have been a little stressed from work, kids, home, money, etc. But so is everyone else. Why is everyone so quick to take a little pill that will instantly cure everything? Is that my only solution?

"Kingdom Melodies"
by ignorance is strength inwhy exactly are they so bad?
are they afraid that a true orchestral and choral piece will glorify god too much?
btw, can you think of any other songs that kingdom melodies sound like?

I just went to a funeral at a Methodist Church and the music brought back old memories of the KH. It sounded like old Kingdom Melodies. Most JW songs sound like funeral music. They need to add a little bass, a horn section, electric guitar and a keyboard.

Opinions on drugs?
by digderidoo inwhile i was in the 'truth' i and a few of my peers were curious about the effects of certain drugs.
as a teenager during the rave scene of the late 80's early 90's many of the 'worldly' kids were doing ecstasy, smoking weed and becoming heavily involved in the drugs scene.. when i left the 'truth', this curiosity got the better of me and i started smoking weed and eventually tried ecstasy, speed and lsd.. while all drugs can be abused (and i have abused some) i am of the opinion that the use of drugs can be a good experience, if used moderately.. i was wondering whether others have experienced drugs since leaving the truth, i am interested to find out what opinions people have on them good or bad.. i also wondered whether people feel that cannabis should be legalised.
my opinion is that people in power shouldn't tell me what i can and can't do with my own body.

I just ended a 12 year relationship because of drugs. He did drugs and I did not. You can't have it both ways. I don't want that arround me or my kids. He would always tell me that he could stop at any time or that he did it when he got bored. Well find something else to occupy your time. Sorry, I hate drugs in any form. I ruined my family.

Steelers are my team and I was soooooooo happy to see Kordell leave. What Kordell needs is a nice comfy cushion because he will be watching the game from the bench.

How old were you when you got baptised???
by digderidoo in.
i was 15, quite old compared to some.. a friends child has just got baptised at 13.....to think that she knows what she wants for the rest of her life at that age seems ludicrous.. so, who here got baptised at the youngest age?.

(Warning, rant enclosed) I feel like my brain is turning to mush.....
by razorMind ini'm sick of my job, sick of the city i'm living in, sick of most of the people who surround me daily.
like a lot of folks here, i was "encouraged to find education within jah's service" discouraged from seeking further education whilst being raised in the troof.
were it up to my father, i probably wouldn't have been permitted to attend regular public school, grades k through 12, much less college---education was that much maligned in my family.

Very Happy for you and your upcoming bundle of joy.
Higher education is not a priority for Jdubs. But you seem like a strong person and I know you can handle whatever come.
I waited until I was 28 to go to college and then found myself pregnant with twins. I had to put my college plans on hold for a couple of years but eventually did go back. I haven't finished yet, I consider it a work in progress.
Balance is the key. Find a way to balance your family, your job and your education. I wish you all the best.

Are You Surpised By What You Don't Believe In Anymore?
by minimus in.
jehovah's witnesses must "believe" whatever the watchtower bible & tract society publishes.
now that you aren't forced to accept beliefs that you might not have wholeheartedly endorsed, there must be many different things that you don't accept.....what comes to mind?

I don't believe that masturbation is bad for you.
I don't believe that Earth, Wind & Fire or Prince are demonized.
I don't believe that gay people are bad.
I don't belive that going to college and having a career that pays well is wrong.
I do believe in making up for all my lost years as a JW.

little depressed...
by jwbot ini need to vent, and what better place to vent?.
i can not get over the fact that my well-adjusted life, where i am happy, and to me, doing the right things, will always be seen as immoral by my family members and former friends.
the recent email exchange (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/56683/1.ashx <---yay drama) between myself and an ex best friend just makes these feelings come rushing back.

I have had the same situation as most of the others. I still feel a little depressed after 13 years away from the dubs. Occasionally my family will do something to make me feel guilty for staying away.
You will get through this. I have just recently started counseling to get through some of the depression, loneliness and anger that flares up sometimes. It is really helping.
My therapist told me that depression feeds on itself. And that is exactly what the dubs want. They want you the feel weak and helpless so that you will turn to them for support. Don't do it. There is help out there. And you have the support of everyone here.
Give yourself a big hug from me.

I'm from Sacramento also.
I remember those nice long scenic drives to Yuba City twice a year. I now get car sickness whenever I pass an orchard full of trees all lined up in a row.
Thanks for the memories.
